Just know that it is this Friday, May 2 2008 already.

Start:     May 2, '08 6:00p
End:     May 3, '08 12:00a
Location:     CUBICLE GALLERY: 40a Stella Maris St. corner C.Raymundo Ave.
The following is written by Ronald Caringal (artist/curator)...

"TASTE OF INK
Adolescent anxiety and works from the heart by Jenna Genio.

The coming of age in a person’s life should better be seen as an age of becoming. Age shouldn’t catch up with you. It’s the other way around. Jenna’s ink drawings invade the paper unsuspectingly, like an unwanted visitor. Her lines, strokes, scribbles, and purposeful jots define and redefine her subject’s right to exist. It battles its way out of her heart and mind and breathes life into the delicate, grotesque, shameful, and proud beings that occupy the space. The works are both playful and intentional. There will be no one way of looking at them because they make the paper their territory. Like growing up. There is no one way of doing it. You will become a composition yourself.

Jenna Genio is a celebrated photographer and this is her first venture into art. Rightfully so. This is her first solo exhibition."

Yeah a lot of people know me as a photographer...
But I live for ART; drawing and painting. It's been that way ever since I can remember.

Attend the opening night on Friday.
Come and see. These original works will be up for sale as well.
Who knows what my stuff will look like after art school?
Shrug.

Special thanks to my mum, Xavier Dominguez, Siddharta Perez, Sammi Zalazar, Ronald Caringal, Gian Romano, sensei Kiko Escora, and of course his holiness Raptor Jesus.

Feel free to bring friends and to spread the word. Re-post the poster on blogs and bulletins and what-not. In fact that would be awfully cool of you!

At Cubicle Gallery.

My name is Jenna Genio. I am 20 years old, and these are 20 of my works. You have stated in your website that for freshman applicants for BFA in fine arts, life drawings are recommended. Unfortunately, I've received almost no training in sketching from life, and none whatsoever with models... The art I do for personal passion's sake is from imagination. If you decide to accept me into your school, I will undoubtedly work extremely hard on the mandatory basics and techniques of sketching from life. I am so eager to learn. Hope you enjoy. Feel free to comment on my work; I would heartily appreciate feedback from you. The dimensions are stated in parentheses beside the work's titles. They are in inches. If the dimensions are not available, it is because I've lost the originals, but have retained the files. Forgive the unwanted shadows around the sides of the works. I had no scanners big enough, so almost all of these are photographs of my paintings on the floor in my room (which doesn't have the best lighting).

I went to shop, to attend my good friend Myka Delfino's art exhibit, and to see my best friend Rose (who was working there, but is now back in the good ol' Philippines). Clubs! Clean streets. Hotel room party at my place at the Carlton! GOOD TIMES!

Some of these are old. Some recent. I've been feeling cold and morose. How have you been?
